St Johns Retirement Village Lounge

Imagemakers was honoured to be asked back to refurbish the community lounge room. The main concern was the small budget that we had to work with to get the results we were looking for accordingly to the brief. Always one to try and recycle and reuse we set about our mission. This dated room was so multi-functional for the residents of this retirement village, it was used as a music room, a waiting room for medical appointments, church services, family gatherings sharing a meal, a small kitchenette  and a TV room and not forgetting the “knitting group” meetings.

Attached to this lounge is a doctor’s room, powder room and a bedroom with ensuite for the night staff. Having refurbished their communal dining room only a couple of years before, imagemakers decided to keep with the style theme that was such a success with the whole of the retirement village. So we set about getting the painters in, new carpet and tiles, getting a long a very long custom made gorgeous timber table and new dining chairs, adding a bit of luxury with the chandeliers and sheers curtains.

In keeping with our beliefs of reusing we had our local reupholster do their magic with some of the chairs and sofa using Warwick fabrics but we were able to include some beautiful furniture pieces and décor items. We renovated the kitchenette specifying some fabulous tiles for the splashback, gorgeous wallpaper, pendants and new vanity and fixtures for the powder room. The nurse’s quarters and Doctor’s room also got a makeover.

It is such a joy to see not just the results of our project but the joy on the faces of the residents and staff on opening day “priceless” .
